I’m a postdoctoral research associate studying various aspects and intersections of UX of AI, data visualization, learning, performance, and games!
I have always been fascinated with how people experienced and understood the world around them. I initially pursued film as I was interested in how it allowed me to use visuals to convey meaning to audiences and change how they viewed the world. As time went on, however, I became increasingly interested in interactive media, a direction heavily encouraged by my own love for video games, and how interaction impacted the audience experience. This interest led me to pursue graduate studies in Digital Media, Computer Science, and Computational Media, where my interest in human perception and experience inspired my research in human-computer interaction. Inspired by my own experiences learning and mastering gameplay, I became further interested in how computational systems could support learning processes for users performing complex tasks, leading to my dissertation work on supporting self-regulated learning in complex gameplay.
I completed my PhD (Advised by Dr. Magy Seif El-Nasr at UCSC) in 2023 and these days you can find me in the Ghost Lab at Northeastern University, working on various research topics at the intersection of games and learning.
When I’m not working or playing video games, you can find me at the nearest barn, enjoying some casual horseback riding and quality time with the animals. Or, if there’s some fresh snow on the ground, you might find me out on the slopes with my snowboard.
